Default Pioneer AVIC N-2

On my way to purchase the AVIC N2 this weekend but I read this customer review and I'm a little leary. Other AVIC owners what do you think? Are you having the same problems that the customer identifies?

AVIC-N2 with XM not ready for prime time

Well Boys I have had my system for just over a month. There are some very nice features to each unit but as an integrated system it just doesn't work.
1. No On/Off button. Turn on your car and it is always on. BTW the power antenna is always up so you can't go through a car wash. Hum maybe I shouldn't have had my old Alpine system removed it only raised the antenna when the radio was playing.
2. The manual warns that this system will drain your battery if the engine is not running. It's right. I've already needed a jump twice.
3. The navigation screen posts a full size message every few seconds that says 'XM Updating Please Wait' Guess they are proud of that cause a little Icon that changed colors would have been all that was needed. So all those cool Navigation Display modes are hidden from view 95% of the time. Tech Support said to remove the Data Cable from the XM unit. That worked so I can now navigate but I can't use any of the XM data features like checking my stocks and XM favorites.
4. If you live in one of 10 or so cities that XM provides Nav Traffic data be sure you see this system in action before you subscribe to the service.
5. There is a nice little alpha-numeric display about the size of my original XM radio display. This is so you don't have to have the screen out all the time. It's a shame that it can't tell you the XM Channel or Category or Artist or Song.
6. The Vehicle Dynamics Display is a yawn. With just a bit more software it could have added 0-60 Times, 1/4 mile times, and Calculated HP just like those cool Performance Computers
My advice is to wait until Pioneer gets it right.

I’ve had mine about a month now and love it… Don’t use the XM part went with a CD changer, My antenna is in the windshield but it did come with a wire to hook into your antenna motor. In addition, you can turn it off.
I have had no battery issues but my Vette is a Daily Driver.

You don't say what year you Have.

yes, you can turn it off
no, it should not kill your battery. The memory might take a little more juice than a regular HU but it would be so minute it will not make a difference.
I wonder if that reviewer has amplifiers install that are not shutting off with the car or he is listening to the radio a long period of time with the car off
