Well, my dad just bought a new Honda and it has XM in it.. I am really impressed... I love the choices you have for music. I never have been a cd collector... so I always just listen to the radio...
QUestion is, what is the best way to put XM in my C5?... I was thinking about getting an XM ready Alpine CD/MP3 player and then putting the antena in... to make it a permanent thing... I also saw the little thing that goes through the FM radio... but didn't know how it worked.. and figured you need an antena anyway...
thoughts on in dash units? what are the best bang for the buck.. im keepking stock speakers... don't need a cd changer or multiple in dash cd player... just a simple cd player.... if they make a tape/cd player combo, I am interested in that, since the stock radio is so big, im sure it would fit... if they even make those..
I'm using the stock Bose system in my '98 C5 with the XM Commander unit. It's connected directly to the head unit with the PIE GM10 Aux adapter and Cor-Har (you won't need the harness if your C5 is already wired for a cd-changer). The Commander also has a built in FM modulator so you can skip the hardwired stuff at first and save a few bucks. The control unit for the Commander fits well in place of the ashtray in the console and can be covered by the flip down door, keeping it out of sight.
This setup works well for me, It sounds great (I've also added a powered subwoofer unit in the center trunk bin) and still looks stock, making it less likely to be ripped off.
However you do it, definitely get XM - you'll never listen to regular radio again.

thanks... Yeah, I am getting really tired of all the crap radio stations on... there is nothing in my town... I think I want to get a new head unit, to replace the stock... I don't really want to add anything to my dash, just want to replace...
