Help Please - 2000 FRC Radio Problems
My used 2000 FRC came with an after market radio. I purchased a stock radio on E-Bay that was supposed to work. Well it didn't. I'm told that the pin configuration is unique to the FRC, which I understand will only work if it came out of an FRC w/casette only. Can someone please enlighten me on what I need to do to get this corvette appearing radio to work, or do I need to buy a new one. If so, what do I need? I'm selling this car do to a C6 purchase and I would prefer to have a working radio included in the sale. Thanks...

What did not work? Pin config is the same and not likely your problem. What could be your problem is when the aftermarket radio was installed they removed all the other components as well. There is the unit in the dash, a processor behind the dash, and two amps...one in each door. All of those items are often removed when a aftermarket radio is installed.
So to help would we need to know what does not work and if all those pieces are present and plugged in.

Sorry, I should have clarified the problem. The original radio was a cassette AC - Delco. It was replaced with an ugly aftermarket unit. I wanted to return the radio to stock for appearance purposes. When the replacement unit did not work I got used to my exhaust system for entertainment. Now I'm selling the car and would like to return it to a working stock issued ac-delco. Also, the sound is faint but not load enough to listen to. Thanks again.

Just FYI, all of the C5 radio schematics are available in post #9 of the C5 FAQ thread, they may come in handy.
I'd start by checking all of the fuses and relays that have anything to do with the radio. I/P fuse #'s 5, 24, 28, and relay #45 (#28 being the most likely). Check out the schematics for details of what each powers.
You'll also need to find out if the aftermarket HU was playing through the stock speakers directly, or through the stock amps then the speakers. I'd guess that some rewiring may have been done. You can take apart the doors to get a look at the front speakers, and the rear speakers are easy to get at if you just carefully pry out the black grill covering them (start in the center on top and it will just pop out).
How was the aftermarket HU connected, was there an adapter between it and the stock wires?
Were any of the stock wires spliced behind the HU?

ROSECUSTOM! I have had a problem very similar to yours and i am very confused. I have a 99 FRC with a cassette player (non-bose i think) and i got a factory CD head unit from a 98 convertable. After installing it, it worked, but the volume, as you said, was so low it wasnt going to work ( you could barely hear it at full volume with the car parked and turned off). How can i get this factory CD HU to work in my car?????
