here are a couple close ups.... Now whenever anyone asks if you can install a double din without having to over customize the trim and keep you AC controls and ashtray in the same place, we have the pics here.
This first one shows where the original trim was (yellow lines) you can see there is a bit shaved on top and about half the trim on the bottom. You cant shave any more on the top then you see in this pic otherwise you will have too much of a gap once you fit the unit in. The unit fits how it fits and you need to adjust the trim around that.
I got super close up on this one so you can see exactly how much was cut away and how much of the bottom trim is left. It looks a bit rough on that corner but its because Im so close
From the other side you can see how clean it looks once I back up a bit. This pic also shows how much was needed to be shaved top and bottom.
The next step for me personally is to have the trim around the screen brought up to be flush. Right now you can see how it slopes in

Thanks for the pics! Would it be possible to sit the unit all the way in or would that interfere with how it opens?

I honestly think they just couldnt push it back any more then that or I know they would have... if it were pushed in more it wouldnt interefere with it opening as it only needs as much space as the top or bottom of the screen

Must be a deep unit. I'm still thinking of getting this one. Is the Eclipse easily bypassed for viewing while driving? (Not that I would do this but I'm thinking of the passenger).

I emailed Crutchfield and they sent me the link. Now I wonder if it would be better to find an installer or did it myself. I'm sure I could do it myself but am wondering if I want to, I'm sure it would take me longer than an installer. How much does an installer charge to do it?

Here a few of mine in my Z06, I added the rear camera. It is impossible to not trim the bezel, but I can assure you that the pictures exagerate the cuts. If you see it in person you cannot see the cuts
Great system, very happy.
FYI the software is the same (but better) as the one used in the C6.
I'm also running an iPod with mine, and eventually plan to get a "brain" so that I can control it with the stereo controls (which I currently cannot do).

Eventually I'd like to pickup a pioneer or alpine ipod brain, that will display everything on the hu (song title, artist, etc) and will allow me to control the ipod from it.
Pix -- well it's an iPod in a center console, not much else to it.

The Eclipse unit with the hard drive, does it have Sirius? I didn't see that the specs showed it does.
Does the 5435 have any lag by constantly using the NAV disk? I'm torn between this unit the hard drive version.
I really want one of these units because it blends in well with the C5 Interior.

The AVN5435 also allows for MP3 disks. I just put 14 albums on one disk. Helps negate the need for the hard disk on the AVN5495.
There is no lag using the NAV disk. When it needs to recompute the route, it does it in 2-3 seconds.

Hope this helps,
