I'm getting a sub thump box for the rear hatch that is set up for 10" sub.
I will be driving it with my PPI 4x125. Front channels are for the Focal Utopias and I will be bridging the rear channels for the sub.
The amp is 2 ohm stable in stereo according to the box, but I lost the literature and am not sure how to do this.
I think it was R+ and L-. Or is it different for all amps?
If so, does this yield me a 2 ohm run and what sub would you recommend that hits clean and tight?
I listen to all kinds of music from Iron Maiden to old school jazz but NO rapola.
Scott
The sub that you choose determines the impedance (in ohms) not the amp. The wiring for bridging the amp (combining two channels for a more powerful output) is usally written on the amp and is often the two outside terminals in the pair of outputs. USUALLY! Searching for the manual on the web is your best bet.
you'll need a four ohm sub (a single 4 ohm voice coil or dual 2 ohm voice coils) Bridge chans 3&4 and you'll be good to go. I would recommend going with a 12" sub since they hit harder then a 10" and are just as 'tight'
I went with a image dynamics 12" and am shocked at how tight it is. you way want to look into the pioneer premier spl2000 it's a great sub for the money but make sure you tell subthump about it because it wont fit in a reqular box (needs additional clearance)
check out the c5 audio faq about wiring up a sub
and fwiw...i listen to mostly hard rock...tool, aperfect circle, audioslave, etc.... a 12 isn't only for rap....

I'm clear on the speaker deal, I thought there was a difference between stereo and mono 2 ohms.
I'll do another web search for the manual. Gotta be something out there.
Thanks

I bought the box used from another Forum member.
I've got 7" of depth on this box, so I'll see what subs might work. Will the Image 12 fit this depth?

yup, thats why i purchased mine. i had a 10" box from another member too. The sub was under $140 from www.cardomain.com (i think) and it sounds great
Wound up buying a Cadence "Beast" 10" sub for the box.
Bridged my amp at 2ohm mono and the sub sounds nice.
Not the best I've heard, but it was cheap, it's pretty efficient and it's tight and punchy for a little 10.
Finally sick of the poor sq of my Avic N1 and will be keeping it for DVD/Nav only.
I'm having an Eclipse CD8053 installed for better SQ.
It is one of the few decks out there with more than just a 1 bit Dac.
