Well, I managed to get enough out of the storage compartment without have to build a separate vertical channel to allow more air. yeeeehaaaaaa.
Anyway, my question is this, I am over by about .08 cubic feet. A 10W6v2 will be in this box. Will I be ok with this suplus of air or should I try and make it perfect by adding in wood to the bottom?
Box = 22 liters (I used water to measure)
Sub likes 17.7 liters
Sub takes up 1.9 liters of space itself
You are so close you will never hear the difference IMO. Outstanding effort! You should make molds of your final configuration and sell them to the less talented! Please????
I thought about making molds and selling cause there is a lot of blood, sweat and tears going into this, however, how would you make a mold for a sealed fiberglass enclosure? It has mdf rings incorporated into the box.
This whole project has been on the fly and changes every few minutes in my head. I'm sure the second box for the passenger side will go much quicker since I know have the design pretty much done. I will be doing the Rage Gold on the outside today.
Now, the amp rack changes every few minutes in my head. It's driving me nuts!!!! I have too many ideas.

The mold would have to be two piece then bond the two pieces together. It is not a problem except every area of the exterior of the first enclosure needs to be perfect and the mold has to be well planned out.
Yes you can add wood into the enclosure to change the internal volume. I do this often because when I build enclosures like yours because I would rather have more air space then too little. But as Steve mentioned it is not likely you will notice a difference.
Thanks! I remeber seeing a video of someone making a mold for a dash piece but that stuff is expensive for the mold silicone. In any event, there ain't no way I'm cuttin' this box in half.
As for a mold, you can make a 2 or 3 piece mold that you can clam back together as you lay up the glass. I'll be doing just that on my boxes, but it'll take 4 pieces for mine. I'll put everything together except the bottom so I can glass up 90% of it, then I'll reach through the sub hole to glass in the bottom.
I know how you feel about all of your ideas . . . It'll take me at least 6 more months to finish the stereo and rear flare projects and get everything painted.
I too always like to have just a tad to much then to little. I find it a sub will find the lower notes easier due to having the air to move, especially 8 or 10's where they are not designed to hit the lower notes very well.
