I am getting ready to install a full custom system in my Z06. Total wattage will be 900 watts. I was planning on using one of the grounding points in my Z, but I stumbled on a piece made by Tsunami that fits onto the Optima style battery (http://www.cardomain.com/item/TSUPP2001PT). It is very nice, but the ground coming off the battery is what I am unsure about. I have always tried to ground amplifiers as close to the amps as possible with LARGE cabling so I don't get noise. Would using the ground block from the Tsunami battery topper cause possible noise? I will be installing a 1.2mf cap on the system and a 150 circuit breaker (even with the fuses included on this topper). Is this worth the money? Or should I not go for fancy and stick with one of the grounding points? Any input would be great! Thanks.
I ran 0-guage to and from my battery to the amps, running near 2000 watts rms. Absolutely no noise or problems. The only downside is the cost of the extra wire.
Great to know you have no problems Knewblew! I think it looks awesome, I was just concerned about possible noise. I was looking at running 4 gauge, but now, maybe I will do the cover and 0 gauge wiring. At the $1800 in equipment and wiring so far, another $200 for the topper and 0 gauge wiring is a drop in the bucket.
Yeah, I think so, as long as it isn't like the cables on my C4. I almost had to replace the power wire on it and after looking at how much of a pain it was, I just replaced the terminal on the cable.
