I recently re-did my stereo, and removed my amp for the speakers, and wired them straight from the HU. Now the music gets barely loud enough to hear it over the road which is at level 70, if i turn the volume to 75 the sound gets distorted. Max on the unit is 80. I'mConfused, and unhappy.
I called the manufacturer and he said that I need an amp to run the speakers with. I originally removed it because I wanted to clean the car up a little. Oh Well.
This post is useless without system specifications.
What headunit are you using? What speakers? What configuration do you have your system set up in?
Odds are, your H/U doesn't have enough power to drive your speakers. Your speakers are probably not efficient, and require higher amounts of power to make them sound good. (Typical of most H/U's on the market.) You system is distorting because you have reached the limits of the internal amplifier and it is clipping.
In the mean time, double check speaker phasing (not just polarity) to see if one front speaker is cancelling out the other, then check the fronts against the rears. Post back and let us know how it turns out. Regards.
As previous mentioned the HU will not power speakers an amp is needed, so I went and bought alpine amp F240 and alpine speakers the 4x6 and 6x9 and it sounds awsome, I actually get some bass out of the 6x9's. A lot better than my blown Pyle's. Just have to wait until the sub gets here so I can finish,
