Tried it already in the tech section with no luck I'm just in the process of installing new stereo components and I'm looking for an wire to splice in which gets powered in the ACC position of the ignition key.
Would be nice if someone could help.
Under your passenger side kickpanel, you will see a wire in the upper left. It has three conductors, red, green, and yellow, if I remember correctly. One is ground - black. One is switched, and one is constant. Just test them to see which one is which. It looks like a wire going to nothing just electrical taped to the PCM frame/loom
thanks for the reply. Do you know if the switched wire is switched by ACC or by ignition position of the key?
What I want to avoid is an additional current draw from the ignition when listening to music while waiting with engine off.
The accessory wires go by the key position, not if the car is running. Check out this schematic to see how they're wired.
If you're keeping the stock head unit (it doesn't sound like you are) you can wire your additions to come/stay on with retained accessory power. Check out post #9 of the C5 Audio FAQ thread to see how.
Sorry for the confusion. You're right and I should have been more precise Yes, I'll change to a Pioneer Avic head unit with nav. and the wiring schematic in your link was exactly what I was looking for . Thanks a lot. It'll make the whole installation much easier You guys are great!
