Has anyone built their own stealth box (for a C5) versus paying the big cash to buy one? Since winter is getting close, I need a few projects to get me through it.
Check out subthump.com. Much less than a stealth box and its price may be low enough to make your time making one worth while I have always built my own systems but unless you want to spend many hours learning fiberglass and laying it out and figuring out port volumes and air spaces and depths etc etc etc I have found it to be easier to let someone else do all of that work and mass produce them
Not by any means am I implying that someone with some common sense and a little mechanical ability could not get a proper box built, but at the same time unless you have built boxes before and understand the calculations required for air space to maxamize your woofers potential I feel it is better left to those with experience. Save that time throwing a coat of wax on the ride and tuning your new system IMO.
Not sure yet. I'm just making the box first maybe for two 10s or one 12. I have a 1200 watt amp and an Alpine din 1.5 head unit.
Box will be about 1 cubic ft. in size.
In case anyone is interested, I have an empty C5 sub box built by Mike Ung last year. I recently bought a new one to house my JL Audio 12W7. It has rings added to the top to allow 8 inch mounting depth. Email me at gpthedj@bellsouth.net if interested. I can't post pic on this site because I don't know how. Made to house one 12" woofer.
