Wont take disc
All I know about Cd players is that you turn it on and it makes noise, so I hope someone here can help me out. In my daily driver (98 Intrepid), when you put a Cd in, after about 3 seconds, it gets spit out and a message on the face says err DISC. I've tried to put in a cleaner disc but the same thing happens. In my neck of the woods, noone works on auto systems and the local Chrysler dealer wants 800.00 for an exchange unit. I'll sing to myself for that much. Any simple fixes? Thanks to anyone in advance.

First of all....no way on God's creation you should spend $800 
on a factory HU. You can get an aftermarket system (HU and speakers) for $800 or less...installed!
I have a couple of questions. Does the CD player reject all CD's? If so, I would guess it is a dirty or a misaligned laser. Try using compressed air (the can type which you can get anywhere, most are in the computer section) in the CD slot. Don't go crazy with the air, just a quick burst should do it. Let us know how see goes
I just noticed you live in a cold area. Does the CD player still reject CDs when the car is warm??

Thank's for the reply. Yes, it rejects all CD's, all the time, hot or cold. As I said, I know nothing about these things and had acually made an appointment and signed the work order to have it fixed when the cleaning kid let the cat out of the bag as to how much it would cost. I will try the canned air and see what happens. Thanks
