Considering Elemental Designs 110v.2 Subs

Now, in my other car (a '91 escort
) I have a 2 RF punch 10" subs in sealed boxes and a RF punch 100ix (about 200 watts RMS). While I can see room for improvement with the SQ, most of the time it's more than loud enough for me. Had I not gotten such a good deal, I probably would not have gotten such powerful amps, but it was a 50% going out of bussiness sale and I just can't pass up a good deal. Since I've got the amp though, I want to use it. The subthump stealth boxes look like they fit my needs but I'm not sure if I should go with one 10", two 10"s, or a 12". After some online browsing I'm thinking of getting the subthump dual 10 box and fitting it with two elemental designs 110.v2 subs. The subs seem like a good fit for my needs as they have a recommended sealed enclosure size that matches the subthump box, their power handling seems about right for the amp (450 rms per sub), they have a 3 year warranty, and at $315 for the pair it just makes my budget for subs.
What I'm really wondering is, at that price, would I be better off getting a single more expensive sub if I leaning more towards SQ than SPL? In my searches I've found as you get into the higher end 10" and 12" subs most won't fit in the stealth subthumb boxes as the mounting depth is too much. The images dynamics IDMAX 10 looks nice, but is too deep. The JL audio 10W6v2 looks like a possibility, but I not sure if it will fit my budget. Any thoughts? One more expensive 10 or do the two elemental designs 110v.2 look good?

I've been reading about all the supply problems with the Elemental Designs. I called them and they said I could pre-order one now and that it SHOULD ship before the new year. I'm in no big rush to get the sub, but after reading about how so many others' orders were held up for months I'm wary.
Now I'm leaning towards Image Dynamics, either two IDQ10's or one IDQ12. Of course, those are out of stock at cardomain.com (the only authorized internet dealer) and I've read rumors they are coming out with a new version of the IDQ soon.
I've heard some people say one sub setups provide better SQ than muliple subs. Can anyone elaborate on that theory? With my amp putting out 500w rms at 4ohms and the IDQ12 only rated for 350w rms I feel like I'm wasting the potential of the amp, whereas two IDQ10's (at 250w rms each) seems like a better match power wise. But, again I'm really looking for SQ and I have a feeling a IDQ12 with all the power it can handle will be plenty loud in the vette.

The IDMAX or JL W7 would be better but as said before, I doubt it will fit in a prefab box.

I just can't decide between two 10's or one 12.

So this means the more subwoofers, the better the SQ?
My next install I'm going to run with 10 Jensen subs. I'll have the best SQ on the planet.

I just posted over at Image Dynamics support forum and they suggested for best sound quality to go with the single IDQ12 over two IDQ10s, although they didn't say why. Anyway, that is the cheaper option as well, so I think I'm gonna go that route. Now, to figure out what to put up front in the doors...
