changing to a cd player
I looked through the sticky information but still am wondering a few things. I have a 97 C-5 with a cassette player, I would like to add a cd player. A person at best buy told me I would have to rewire the whole system if I wanted an aftermarket head unit. He said any stock bose cd player would work, like one out of a vette or cadilac. So will any C-5 stock cd player work, because I heard that I need one from a 97-99 because something changed with 2000-up models?

Ok you can use an aftermarket one as long as u get the Soundgate adpater which someone should state the model of so that your subs will still work. Any CD Player out of a C5 will work I believe i dont think it has to be 97-99... someone should chime in with more help

Any C5 head unit will work. I believe 2000 + came with CD rather than cassette. My understanding is the C5 head unit is unique (because of the Bose sound processor), meaning you can't put one in from a caddy or an F-body.

the guy at best buy was mistaken. if you want an aftermarket head unit you can simply swap out the bose one with an aftermarket one if you get a pac-oem1 from www.pac-audio.com
