Default Adding AUX input to a C5

I have a 2000 'Vert without the CD Changer. From what I have learned on the forum, the wiring harness for the CD Changer should be installed in the back of my Vette already.

I have looked into my service manual, and have seen the wiring diagram for the CD changer. The first three lines on that harness are the Audio signal for the CD Changer.

Has anyone tried to simply tap into those three wires with the audio ouput from a source like a MP3 player?

I am wondering, if I splice into those wires with the output from my MP3 player, would the HU allow me to switch to that signal? Or would I need some other way to make the HU play from the CD Changer harness, without the changer being installed?

Thanks,
Ed

you need to have a signal to tell the h/u to stay in AUX mode. thats what the those expensive boxes simulate. If you could figure out what that was then you can do what you're talking about. I hooked up my ipod like that, but i had a cd changer, which makes it possible. check out the last page in the faq:
