ok i've never done this before. I've got a c5. I have the stock h/u out, and am ready to install an alpine h/u. Got a few basic basic questions...
- I go out and get the wiring harness, what about the other two wiring harnesses that came out of the stock unit? (the ones next to the ant. wire)
- the head unit came out of my old totalled car. I didn't install the unit. i know a "sleeve" is supposed to be around the unit. Do i need to call alpine and order it, or do i not need it?
- To get power, i know to reroute from fuse no 22...where do I wire it into?

thanks in advance for the help

1 read the faq, search term 'bose interface' or 'soundgate'. You need a special interface if you're keeping the stock bose speakers.
2 yes you need that sleeve, you probably can go down to your local audio shop, they may have spares
3 fuse 22 or you can tap off that other wire in the footwell (i forgot which one it is,i should read the faq too) you wire into your acc lead on the wire harness.

i have read the faq. there is no info on pulling the carpet up to access that fuse. If im not keeping the bose speakers, does the other two wiring harnesses mean nothing?
also where can i find the adapter to fit into the ant wire?

you can find the ant wire at any car audio install shop, even best buy should have them. to get to the fuse there is a false floor at the end of the passenger side foot area. there are two black latches that match the latches that are on the rear storage compartments. flip those and remove the carpeted panel and there is the fuse box and acc wires taht you can tap off of (either one will work). All you 'need' from the wire harness is ground, acc, and constant (illumination also, but it's not 'needed'). If you have the correct wire harness then you should be good to go... i'm 90% sure about that though, since my install totally negated the use of any of the stock wires.

I just tapped "that wire" scott mentioned for my HU install. It is yellow in color and pretty short. There are three wires all loose and I would expect in most cars taped together. They are located just above the metal boxed brain in the center of that collection of electronics and wires right behind that cover mentioned in the passenger floorboard. Worked fine for my install.
