I finally assembled all of my components for my stereo install and got started a couple nights ago. So far I have about 20 hours logged on the install and still have about 6 in front of me to finish up. Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures depending on quality from my crap digital camera.
The box is in fabrication atm and hope to have it next week. It will be made of 1/2" birch. I used Edesigns v3 liquid sound deadener throughout both doors and in the front "tub" and the ramp behind the seats. When that was dry I did the front half of Crazy Cowboy's kit (back half was done in conjunction with Dynamat Extreme). I ran three sets of RCA's from Knuconceptz out to the amp so I can have full crossover control from the HU. Ran 4 gauge through the firewall with a 100 amp fuse at the battery and a 50 amp fuse at the amp. I still have not decided where I am going to mount the tweets so they will be blue tac style for a while while I mess around with tuning and time alignment and crossover points. Mounted a 3/4" MDF board underneath the passenger side seat and routered a channel out to run the rca's through. This will mount the crossovers and the amp (for ease of tuning). It is likely that the passenger seat may not make it back in the car for a few weeks
Also I have to highly recommend the face plate mount from Vrumvrum .. quality and fit are awesome. After playing around with some MDF baffles for the speaker mounts and seeing the quality of the face plate I decided to order the speaker mounts as well. I hope to get the amp fired up tonight and to connect some speakers to double check everything before I mount it up and hope to not pull it out for a very long time!
I post in hopes to give some ideas for installs and hopefully will be able to post some pics up when I get it finished up.
sounds good....pics will be nice. Ive got my amp and sub wires mocked up right now and still have to get that mounted permenantly. I will have pics of when i decide to mount the amp and run the cable the way it should run. Glad you only have 20 hrs in it so far. I put in way too much into mine....now lets see some pics
Well ... after measuring and remeasuring and eyeballing and finally going with it in terms of design and layout, it seems that I am lacking about 3/8" clearance at the rear of the seat ( have some pictures will post at completion)
For anyone that plans to do amp installs underneath the passenger side seat either find an amp that is less than 11" long and mount it across between the seat rails or one that is less than around 14" long total to mount it length wise and keep it out of range of the slide handle and still have it clear at the rear seat mounts. Oh and it better be pretty thin .. I am using a 1.5" tall amp.
I am back to not quite the drawing board but need to reconfigure the layout a bit and get some thinner mount wood and peel a bit of insulation back on the carpet and hope I can create the room I need
I know what you mean with going back to the drawing board. I needed to go behind the seat to get everything hookedup. I am going to try to go under the seat when i get some more wire this weekend....I didint have too much time to look at all my amp locations, my dad booted me outta the garage after the weekend. I have to wait till this weekend. Not sure if Im actually going to actually do it though because its supposed to be the coldest its been so far this winter.....ok warm weather people....no comments needed. But i do have a nice propane heater....so that might see action again. Good luck and you took it apart once so this time shouldnt be so bad right
Well the good news is that I really did not have very much put back together only the passenger side with everything mocked up for connections etc, carpet back in and seat back in place. The rear portion of the seat brackets slope to the back quite a bit more than I originally thought and with the MDF board, cowboys kit, and amp height I ran out of room in a hurry at the very back edge Oh well off work at 6pm, a quick trip to Home Depot and a bit of tinkering and rerouting of wires and I should be back on schedule (I hope )

looking good. I wish I was able to tape down wires like that. The liquid sound deadner doesnt make a very good adhesive platform because of how rough the surface is. Maybe duct tape can take care of that. Looking good though. How much fun did you have painting those doors? Install is lookin real good. Take the pics that you took up real close. and just move back a little bit. They are blurry bc you are so close and you cant keep the camera still enough. Or use a tripod that close. More pics, keep em comin
Thanks bro Going to borrow a friends camera from work and take some real pics .. those are being done with like a 1.5 megapixel camera with no flash heh.
Knew are you clicking the "highlights" portion? The actual photo section of the page would not load for me so I made links to them from the front page ....
I actually have all of the speakers in, the new sub box and everything wired up and playing now. Midbass is REALLY impressive ... still need to do some imaging work and I am still breaking the IDQ in but you can't say enough good things about the IDQ series of subs
If you consider yourself an "audiophile" I highly suggest you pick up the Sheffield lab "Drive" CD, some very well recorded tracks on it that have specific tracks to test and tune your system with. Track #2 will let you know how your midbass is doing for sure There is a nice horns track and a couple orchestra tracks as well.

drive has been in my aresenal for some time. i also like the sheffield jazz experience, sheffields james newton howard and friends, and the boston acoustics music for bottom feeders and their bass collection.
the sheffield autosound 2000 my disc is good for tuning and finding rattles and such. i have used it many times to find out of phase speakers.
