I would like the option to charge the IPOD/use head controls - I see that to connect to my rear changer cable I'll need the GM10 and then the PAC AUX-POD to connect to that.
I see that members have used this option - question - from the pictures of the GM10 it appears to only use the RCA connections - how in $%#^ name would it charge the IPOD? And how will the head unit get the data signal on the data line to look for the AUX input?
If you are connecting the iPod2car using your changer cable located in the rear of the Corvette (trunk in Verts and Z06), then this is what your rig should look like:
It does NOT have RCA cables. Using the P.I.E. AB-GM10 (Peripheral cable PXHGM2) as the interface between the iPod2car and the Bose changer cable (which must be removed from the changer), the iPod charges through the Corvette's changer cable. I repeat.... the rig does NOT use RCA connectors. It uses the cable connection that WAS attached to your changer. This supplies the necessary power to charge the iPod (thru the iPod2car device).
I used the setup EscapePod posted, along with a COR-HAR as my C5 didn't have a factory CD changer. Since you have a factory CD changer, you already have the COR-HAR.
The audio is excellent and the head unit controls work fairly well. The iPOD charges when on the cable and it turns on and off when the head unit is turned on or off.
Regards,
Chas.

Chas,
Did you go with a factory COR-HAR harness? If so, Do you have a part number for it ?
OK one more question - on my other vehicle that uses the IPOD-compatible connection, the IPOD is totally unuseable and all functions are contolled by the head unit - playlist displays, artists, etc.
I see that songs can be advanced by the Bose head unit on the C5, but confirm all other functions are useable on the IPOD - i.e. it's not 'locked out' like it is with my Alpine unit?

You retain full control from the iPod. The iPod2car even comes with an 11 foot cable that connects to the iPod so that (IF you wanted to) you can keep the iPod right up front with you. All iPod functions, plus charging, work.
My setup replaced my second failed Bose (actually, its made by Pioneer) changer. No more skips/dropouts when I drive over a tiny pebble in the road.... plus, lots more music.
You're most welcome and let us know if you have any trouble finding the connectors in the passenger side foot panels. Someone else has already posted some photos that were a lot of help.
Forget the Ipod box connection. I decided to go with an UP grade Alpine Radio, that has a direct conect in the back for an IPOD.
Cost wise, It is cheaper to just get the NEW Alpine radio then to install all these harnesses and extra Ipod boxes.
Yeah I have that in my SUV, the 9820XM - I love the IPOD features for sure, but that thin silver look I did not want in my Corvette. Is it even compatible with the stock Bose?
If I changed out the head unit, I'd rather get an entire nav screen, re-do the plastic surround, etc - already spent 8K on this car this month, stereo is last priority really but I sure get tired of 12 CD's so at least I've got my IPOD now - just spent 3 days ripping my 400 CD's so now I've got 60GB of tunes now, still building all my playlists...
