This is probably a dumb question and I probably haven't thought this through all the way.
But---
Couldn't you just have a single board cut to fit the center compartment, with the sub mounted on that and use the existing compartment as the "box" If you could seal the top onto it, wouldn't it be a legit enclosure?
Please tell me why this is not a good idea, before I do something stupid!!
to seal it properly you'd have to drill a bunch of holes into the car so you could screw the board down. plus if it's not completely flat you'll have to find ways to fill the gaps
I agree with all, and to mention, why not just build a small box that is easily removable and no holes required. I have 1 10" in there and it sounds amazing. Hell you can go my route and build it about 1" from the top and put a bueaty board that covers it all up.
Thanks guys...Like I said, I posted this without really thinking it through. I guess sealing it would be the toughest thing. Trying to find a way to get a 12" in there without spending the $200 for the flush mount box from sub thump.
seriously the covers that go over the subs are usless. They just rattle like crazy. your better off just goin with a box that has more cubic air than going for the flush mount IMO. I tired to put my center cover over the sub and it just rattled loose. when its not in use its great but, when does that happen.

Mine actually was screwed off to the box and worked fine. I bought the car with it. I did take it off because the excursion from the sub with my type of music had the surround hitting the cover.

exactly, it fits perfect so long as you dont play music, then once the tunes start the cover gets bumped off by the subs. good quality and fit from subthump though
