Default 2000 Bose questions..

I relaize I need the adapter to make my Bose speakers work with an aftermarket HU, but do I need any other adapters and/or wiring harnesses to hook up a radio?

correct unless you want to improve the sq then you could purchase 3.5" speakers to replace the 'twiddlers' in the bose system

for the research I have done so far I am guessing if I wanted to keep the door 'subs' I would then need to spend 100 bux for the soundgate but if i decide to just replace those speakers with aftermarket ones then there is no need to spend the cash on the soundgate and i could better spend the money on better speaker including the 3.5" twiddlers?

Basic $5 plug adaptor to fit the stock gm harness and give you all but one lead needed to splice in your aftermarket HU. You can tap the yellow lead located in the top left corner of the computer in the passenger footwell behind the cover for it.

IMO it is worth spending a couple hundred dollars on a set of component speakers in the front and pick up the package deal from vrumvrum for a headunit mounting plate and speaker plates built to your application. Pick up a 50 foot spool of speaker wire (whatever you want to get I personally do not spend "real" money on speaker wire) and a set of RCA's from Knuconceptz.com or your local speaker shop ( I do recommend that you spend some decent money here however). You will be amazed at the sound quality difference that replacing the blose crap will make.

If you wanted you could keep the rear speakers with an aftermarket deck but I personally do not know if you can use the factory speaker wiring or not to do that without an adaptor.

G'luck
