Default Need HELP!!!

Just hepled my brother install his Panasonic CQ-DF903U in his Ford Expedition (with Mach system) and we had everything hooked up, turned it on and it sounded real good, he hit his DIM button on the head unit and it said GOODBYE and wouldn't turn back on, we tried over and over to get it to turn back on and nothing, fuse wasn't blown in the back of the stereo, we were getting power to the head unit. We disconnected the Panasonic and put the factory head unit back on and IT wouldn't turn on either. I checked the factory harness and we're getting the switched 12V and the Ground works, but we weren't getting anything from the yellow wire labeled 12Volt Battery/Memory wire...checked all fuses under the dash and under the hood, all fuses are fine but we can't get either head unit to turn on now...any ideas on what we could check next or why this would happen, the truck's still in the garage opened up so if anyone could chime in real quick i'd appreciate it.

My guess is you grabbed the wrong power wire somewhere. I've hooked up to headlight wires and others that are "switched" for various reasons and work "part time" if you know what I mean. Are you sure the yellow wire is the correct one? If it was working and now it's not, its either a blown fuse or you cooked something in the HU.

Hitting the DIM button may have signaled a feed to close its circuit.
Just a guess without being there.

If you need more help I'll pm you my cell #

WooooHoooo turned out to be that yellow wire, we didn't tap any wires for the signal, the harness pulled all the power from the factory harness...not sure what went wrong with the factory Yellow 12V wire but no power is coming out of it at all. So i tapped the fuse box for a constant 12V source, spliced that into the head unit and tried it out..worked like a charm. So we are going to leave it like that for now...until we find out what caused the factory 12V to fail...thanks for the help!!!

Well there went that idea, my brother got all the way to the highway and it did the same thing, said GOODBYE on the screen then turned off, wouldn't turn back on. I called him here a second ago (about 20 minutes after it turned off the second time and he said he turned the radio on again to see what would happen and that it worked. Not sure why it would do that or what would cause it to turn off on its own and not turn back on for a while...any ideas?

thats what im thinking...but not sure why the factory head unit won't turn on anymore...my brother's gonna get rid of it and get a new one but (he bought it from his ex-wife) but we'd like to get factory 12v continuous wire working again, i told him to unplug his negative battery cable to try and "reset" everything to see if that would work. anybody else know what would cause that wire to go dead or where I could check to see what's going on?

You said you spliced into the fuse box for power. I would guess, as mentioned in my earlier post, you grabbed a feed that is not a constant.
Lights, sensors etc. are not constant switched power sources.
Grab a different wire from the box and try that out.
