I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you're not a golfer...
Looks cool. a few weeks ago I saw a post about someone who built a DIY trunk lid liner with some black carpet he bought at WalMart. It looked like it matched real well; I bet it would be pretty easy to wrap up that box.
I'd only paint it if you were going to smooth out the corners otherwise how about vinyl?
one question; just curious, why did you make the box deep instead of wide?
oh..and that is a great place to mount the sub. a bunch of us always talked about it but i've never seen one installed there.
I couldnt go wide because of the size of the partition. I only had 11inches to work with. And it slops down. In order to get the right cubic ft it had to go deep. Yeah im thinking about doing it red. How much would it cost to do it in vinyl.
Yeah I do play golf. But now when I go its only me and my golf clubs going.
how about the inside of the box? I want to go with the plexiglass top. or should I just close it all up? I was thinking about painting that all black inside. Maybe a mirrow on the bottom with a some leds.
Sweet idea .... I would personally craft a little acousticly transparent cover for the sub for those times when you want to keep it "stealth" and it would probably just look like a normal partition. z06 parts sells OEM match carpet by the yard if you want a perfect match. I hate riding around with my sticks in the front or I would have probably done something similar. As for the inside I like the black or paint it to match your car color? And scott_fx will suggest some crazy led's or cnc milled acryllic or some other cool idea for the top.
One question how thick is that face for the sub mount? How many watts are you going to push? If it is 800+ you might want to go 1.5" on the face being that it is mounted vertically like that. Just my opinion though.
clear acrylic braces that would actually look good and be functional!
tint the top plexi with limo tint and the put a cathode in the sub box. when the cathode lights up you will see into the box, when it's off...it'll look like a black piece of plastic.
side lit plexi for to with the corvette logo etched/engraved into it. mount it about halfway up and it'll appear to be floating.
what do you mean mount it halfway up? Im lost on that one. Also where could I look to get something like that etched in? Sorry for all the questions...
halfway up the inside of the box you can try to etch it yourself or send it to any number of laser engravers. locally, try stores that sell trophies. on the web: www.pololu.com

Fej
Yeah I dont golf to much. Only every now and then. Im only pushing 500 watts so its not that crazy. Its only a 10 and I have a jl 500.1 to push it.
thats a great link! also..dont be limited to just one color pieces. you can get multiple colors (probably something easier to do when you get it laser etched) all you have to do is think in layers. if you want a two color job get two pieces of plexi stacked on top of each other. have the light sources at opposite sides of the plexi and tape off the edge of the plexi so light doesn't bleed to the layer below.
