Default Coupe only

This information is for the coupe only. The FRC/Z06 and Vert have either a fixed mast antenna or power antenna. The coupe has the in glass antenna in the front winshield and rear hatch. This module mixes the signal from the two antennas and sends it to the radio.

So the short answer your vert does not have this.

Replaced head unit with factory re-conditioned. Problem is gone.

I get my Metra XSVI-2004 yesterday, and instal it right away.
My new radio is Douple-DIN Alpine.

Only problem now is antenna...
Of course I buy also antenna-adapter 40 GM-10, but my new radio can not find any signal.

I connect power antenna wire (dark green) from original harness to my new radios motor-antenna wire (blue). Is this correct?

After I read this topic, I connect 5 VDC to the pink wire, but it is not help!

My radio can´t find any station

Please, give me some tips

Now I get signal to my new HU

There is two place to connect antenna wire behind Alpine!
Hole wich looks normal antenna-plug hole, is for TCM-antenna, and
there is hanging a black wire, lenght about 4", for normal antenna !
It needs a JASO-adapter between antenna-plug and this Alpines antenna-wire.

But signal is still weak
I get some information about those pink and dark green wires.
In late C5 99-04 models it needs to connect 12VDC to dark green wire and 5VDC to pink wire.
BUT;
In early C5 97-98 models it needs to connect 12VDC, I do that, but it doesn´t help.

Please confirm, that this is correct ?

How can I check that antenna-aplifier works like it should be?

When you put 12v on the green wire your reception improves

For better FM reception, all you need to connect is the 12v. The 5v signal is only needed for AM.

I find this schemes, and it looks like they are different connections in -97 and -03

In -97 scheme Pink wire = ARS Input to antenna-amplifier and Dark Green = Radio ON Input.
Now I feed 12VDC to both wires...

What means ARS ?
( I wonder its "Antenna Relay Coil Support Voltage". If so, it must be "Power" and Radio ON Input is just "wake up" ? )

Did you mean it could help, if I take of ARS Input (pink wire) and just left Radio On Input connected 12VDC (drk green wire) ???

The schematics change over C5 lifetime due to more options being added, in later years only the coupe has an amplifier, but the schematics are written for all models.

The way I now understand it...
12v on the dark green wire is what turns on the amplifier, which should be fine for FM. Adding 5v to the pink wire should help for AM, but may cause 'echoing' problems on FM.

Ok. Thanks!

I will try take Pink wire connection away.
If that doesn´t help, then the amplifier must be broken...

@Juke and @markcz ... Bringing this thread back several years later........ I'm about to wire up the antenna amp for a 2001 coupe. Does the Pink WIre need 5VDC for only AM, only FM or both? What did you find out? The thread is leaving me confused. HELP!

Years ago I made that connection, 12 VDC to the dark green wire and unpluged the pink wire. Radio receive is still very weak. I had Alpine 2-Din that time. I changed it later to Xtron 2-Din Android 8.0, but it didn't help for FM receiving. Mostly I'm hearing internet radio now.

I have planned to install motor antenna to right rear fender same style as in convertibles.

So.... sounds like 5VDC to the pink wire is important for FM since I doubt you cared about AM? Just a hunch.

I tried also that, but no success.

Wow, that's strange. I'm adding a pin to send 5VDC from the Access harness to the C1 pin 6 (Coupe only Radio Signal On)... if that doesn't work then I will have to explore more I guess.

I just disconnected the factory antenna from my coupe and plugged in this

it has made a decent improvement to my radio reception.

Interesting.
Can you add some link to details?

What kind of area you live and drive?
Is there strong or weak FM stations?
I wonder if receiving is much better than with original antenna system?

I live in countryside and almost all stations send weak signal in this area.
