What I did: installed 10" JL subwoofer (original Alpine froze) hooked up to mono Alpine amp, Alpine R series components replaced factory speakers (including the tweeters in the center dash) and run them off an Alpine amp. I also installed the GM CD changer (very easy). Initially I wanted to hookup an ALpine vehicle hub to control my IPOD from the NAV screen but there as of yet id no adapter to the new generation of GM radios; I was assured by an ALpine rep that there would be such a monster by the end of this summer. I made a temp fix by splicing into the XM lead with a mini-plug to hook up the IPOD. The lighted switch in the center compartment switches between IPOD and XM. I also installed a sepereate input (volume) control for the sub in the center compartment as well.
The box is built from wood and fiberglass
one of the two amps that resides directly behind the seats. The cover is just wood (that I need to vent better) with carpet.
This took a ton of time and I would not do it again but I like the results. Can't wait for Alpine's hookup.
