Default Power Adapter / Cig lighter

Since no one knew over in C3 I will ask it here:

I went to plug in my in car charger for my cell phone yesterday (1st time) and it didn't work. So I pull the center console and there are no wires leading to it and 2 that are cut... Ones an orange color and ones a black. So is this the + and -- . If they are then which connects where and if they're not where do I find them. Thanks.

Those are the right wires....orange should be the hot wire.

Yes orange was the 'hot' wire indeed. I had forgot it had current even w/ battery off and when I accidently touched it to the metal area it burned my palm like a ****. The black one doesn't connect though.

Black should go to the outer ring and orange to the middle point. I know its to late but pull the positive on the battery before you start cuting and splicing until you are sure it is right. I remember an installer who was working on a Porsche next to me at the shop suddenly scream fire. He crossed some wires and didn't know it because he hadn't gotten to the test the install part and he had left the battery hooked up. They ended up igniting behind the sterio and set the dash on fire. This is not desireable on a fiberglass body car so take the time and sleep easy.
