Does anyone know what the problem could be. I have a 84 with original bose stero. Several years ago had volume and tape problems, but wanted to keep the stock unit in the car. Sent it out to United Radio (they had done my dash great job) and it came back working perfectly. Working this fall, when I started the car over the winter (in the garage) the right front speaker is full of static. I took switched the speaker and the static stays with the right front door. The drivers door is clear with either speaker. Anyone have any ideas why? Also the back speakers on both sides are fine. I have tried to see if there was a seperated amp for the speaker but have been unable to locate one being sold after market. Any direction will be appreciated.

Did you swap the entire BOSE pod with the amp and the speaker or just the speaker itself? I am leaning toward a bad amp in that location...those door pods are a pain in the behind to pull out! I yanked all of the bose stuff from my 84 when I had it and went aftermarket and made some custome spaeker mounts for the doors...6x9;s fit the rear perfectly...I ran 6.5's in the doors...
I would bet its the speaker amp causing the issue you are having...
Yep, that's a bad amp. Check on eBay for a replacement one, or check back with the place that repaired your radio. Maybe they repair amps too. I need to get my dash repaired. What's their url?
they sell replacement amps on ecklers for like $149, i too went with 6.5" components in my '91, much improved sound. that stock system just wears out and sounds terrible, you spend a fortune fixing it, but i can understand if you wanna keep it stock.
Sorry it took so long for the reply http://209.238.89.122/Automotive/index.asp
that;s the url for www.unitedradio.com. They did a great job on the dash, and I've been told by some that I could have a crack or bad chip in the radio. Kind of don't want to spend the time and energy on the amp if it's in the radio.
