A friend gave me out of a 1998 C5 the stock Pioneer 12 CD changer to put into my 2002 which of course has the CD in the dash.
What l have read is that my system can handle it but when l was looking at the Eckler's catalog they had a kit designed for this but it says from 1999 through 2004.
I was planning on getting the harness and bracket from my dealership to keep it orig.
it will work just fine, the only thing that you will have to do is, hard wire the 3 wire plug from the changer harness into the wire harness behind the fuse panel in the passenger side footwell.
check the tech tips section for the install directions.
(I know it's there because I just looked)
Hi
I just came back from my dealer's part's dept and l felt like l was dealing with somebody who knew less then l did.
I was told when l stopped by to bring with me my vin # and the vin # the pioneer came out of. I also took the unit with me.
The parts person was unable to find anything out at first except it was discontinued (wire harness) and the back mounting bracket didn't show up any where. He did find a # for the two side brackets, but l have those.
He came up with 2 different harness #'s one for $268.94 and the other for (sit down) $1741.93.
This told me to just say thanks and then walk out.
The COR-HAR harness l can order online but what about the back bracket that is glued to the back of vette??
Being that nobody working there even said boo made me crazy but a former member of my club is one of the service advisors and really goes the extra mile for me so l didn't want to start an argument.
I will call the installer and ask him how l should handle it. I thought it would be easier if l picked it up myself.

I will look for the GM kit #.
And l thought this was a slam dunk!
Alan
Alan - see my post a couple above - CALL CHRIS!!!!!!!! He is a great guy to deal with and will give you a GREAT price. It will save a lot of angst... trust me.
So your Andy Bogus and l thought Bogus was a call sign!
Strange but true.
Anyway just so that l understand, l need the harness to hook up th changer but the connector must mate with the changer and then the connector going into the radio has to be altered.
There is one connector on the changer end and two connectors on the other end, those plug in at the passenger side footwell.
the "4 wire" connector is for the speaker connections, and the "3 wire" connector is for power, data, and ground.
I am not sure what connectors are required for the C5 audio system. Many times, CD changers only require a single multi-pin din type data line that sends audio and recieves power/ground.
