can you install a 8in woofer in the door using the bose setup and jus swap the 8's out ?? Im curious if that would work or would i have to make a template out of the mount and use it instead
from what i hear the 8 isnt exactly an 8, a bit smaller. You'll have to do some cutting. I think someone mentioned also that it would be hard because of the mounting depth of replacement sub. Also the bose sub has its own amp. You would have to amplify your new sub some other way
I think the 8's from the factory are like 1.5 ohms or something, and the tiny amp that powers them is set up to run that ohm rate, which means you would have to find a similar ohm rated speaker (good luck) or find a different way to power them (afermarket HU or amp). Bose makes their systems tough to upgrade and not very interchangeable on purpose I think so they can continue to charge an arm and a leg for crap paper coned woofers with "bose" on them.
if you are talking about swapping it out but using the bose amps: could you?...yes, would it sound better?...no
If you just want to use the existing bose assembly to mount an aftermarket woofer that will be powered by an aftermarket amp...i bet you could figure someway out but it'd be a lot easier to make a mounting plate from mdf
