ok well i was going to do a full system including 3 wasy, amp, and sub. but now im thinking i wont like the extra weight. i think im just going to stick with the head unit and 2 way front and maybe rear fill. the head unit is an alpine iva-d310. it put out 50w max. what are some good choices for speakers that will still sound good at low power? i really like dls speakers so if you could suggest something from their line, if not what would you do. i mostly listen to techno and rock. car is an 02 zo6
i wouldnt power components off of deck power, just not enough power there. you're looking at probably 18-20 wrms which will only be good enough for an efficient coaxial.
how about trying an amp and a 3 way component in the doors. maybe a 7" 4" and tweet? then get a small amp (i just got my zapco 500.1 in today and the thing is tiny!)
you can always pull your sub box out if your gonna go to an event. Or just go on a diet and make up for the extra equipment. They are making amp smaller these days that are just as powerful. Also they are making speakers that are a lot more effiecient that dont require as much power to drive them
ha ha diet.. thats never gonna happen. im a powerlifter and get about 5000+ cals a day. what i was thinking of doing was using an amp but a small powerfull one to run the front stage only. im not a bass junkie anyways. so heres the revised system.
alpine iva-d310
dls ra20 130x2 at 4 ohm
dls iridim 6.3 3 way components
should still sound great and add very little weight. the amp only weighs 8 pounds. what do you think?
