I have no clue! LOL.
Can I use a set of tweeters (Infinity 1011t) with any cross over or does it have to be made for these exact speakers?
I want to add a set of tweeters to the windshield posts in my 87 coupe.
This set of tweeters has no crossovers with them, so what do I do?
Also, I have 2 way infinity reference speakers in the doors, so how do I wire these tweeters in?
I am powering the door speakers thru an amp fed by the pre amp output of the headunit.
Dont they have like an inline passive crossover like a resistor or some bs like that. If not I should have a pair around here i can send to you. Are the infinitys like brand new in the box cause they should come with everything needed
If you want to hear more realistic sound in your car, consider adding a pair of Infinity Reference 1011t tweeters. These 1" silk domes will add sparkle and brightness to your music, and improve your stereo image — without tiring your ears.
Crossovers are included to prevent lower frequencies from reaching the tweeters and compromising sound quality. Infinity's "I-Mount" system makes it easy to install your new tweeters, while the Starfish™ bracket simplifies mounting in factory tweeter locations.
Details:
» 1" silk dome tweeters
» flush- and surface-mount hardware included
» Starfish™ bracket for mounting in factory tweeter locations
» 2,500 Hz passive in-line crossovers
» power handling: 2-50 watts RMS (150 watts peak power)
» frequency response: 2,500-21,000 Hz
» sensitivity: 91 dB
» flush-mount depth: 15/16"
» warranty: 1 year
if they are at a salvage store than most likely they were removed from a car and the crossovers were left.
Yes, you DO need to use a crossover or you will blow the tweeter.
based on the specs of the 1011t tweeter as mentioned in an above post you would be best using a passive 12db crossover with a crossover point at 2,500. You should be able to find a number of suitable crossovers at any good car audio shop.
Typically the price of a crossover will depend on the quality of the componets inside it and could run as low as $25 to as much as $200.
For something simple but effective you can do a google search on passice 12db crossover networks and build one yourself. The simpliest design is simply a capacitor and a coil that you could find at radio shack or an electronics supply house for less than $10!
If you can solder you can build a crossover network.
like i said the crossovers i have will work fine let me dig em up and u shoot me a few bucks for shipping and they r urs... the infinity tweeters r pretty nice
