Cool thread, about time you starting something worthwhile
I am a golf professional. Not the kind you see making the real $$$, the kind that babysits adults for a living, and unfortunately that description is somewhat literal
From running the course to club repair, to lessons for the young to the too old to learn, I do it all
Fej
you lucky son of a !@#$% i would love to get to see the sun during the week!
More importantly, can you catch him?!?... I can just see Scott's approach... "what we'd want to do is hook him up with a 1000w 4 way, with two 10" subs at either ends of his hole, and then the other two channels bridged to a low-pass crossover wired to his nuts." And the then fej would chime in, "Great advice, Scott. Now go fire up the Weber."
I am a mechanical Engineer also. I work for general motors. Over the last 9 years of employment I have had several interesting jobs. Started out in Powertrain (MI) as a structures engineer designing FWD transmission components. Moved to Lordstown Assembly (OH) as a supplier quality engineer dealing with suppliers issues and helping them to produce better product. Currently a Vehicle assembly engineer at the same plant, problem solving build issues for the Cobalt and analyzing JD Power Data to imprve the vehicle based on customer feedback.
That's my exciting day job. My night job is construction/remodeling work for my company I started 5 years ago. I stay busy. Somewhere I fit the family and corvette in there.
Well other then a full time student, I do car audio at Circuit City (my store does good work, gasp crazy thought I know), as well as I work at a bicyle shop, so my garage is car audio stuff and bikes everywhere.
this is true, hes got bikes and and audio stuff all over the garage.
the reason I don't have a carputer, probably is because im a mac guy here at work. I just hate how people are so damn lazy as far as writing stuff for macs. Its a little daunting for me as well. I know, ive built and done so much crap here, why not in a car. I just think of it different for a car. Oh and Im a novice at best with pc's.
My dream job is to take over Hugh Hefners place when he retires
I started out in the USAF (did 27 months of that in the Middle East ), then did some college, then started up a plant for General Mills, dabbed some time at ALCOA, and finally starting up a mill for Weyerhaeuser. Ten and a half years later, I'm still at that Weyerhaeuser plant . I'm proud of what we do here at this mill. We are the largest recycler of cardboard in the USA. (we were #1 in the word but China has that now, don't even get me started on China ) At this mill we average 2900 tons inbound (one hundred forty five 18-wheelers). That all used to go to the land fill I've done car audio installs on the side for over 20 years

To me I dont see the big deal, my job is not very glamorus. I work on a computer (or act like I do) all day like everyone else. Ony difference is Uncle Sam signs my paycheck.
Ive always love car audio, but now know a little more about the basics that go into it thanks to the Navys electronics schooling.
I'm a Program Manager (engineer) in FAA's Southwest Regional office of Airport Development. I'm degreed as an architectural engineer, versed as a civil/structural engineer and ended up working in the airports arena . . .
Cars are number one with me and have been since I was 7 or 8. I used to sand down, modify and repaint my hot wheels. Nothing's changed, still customizing cars, they're just bigger and more expensive now.
Here's a link to my latest C5 project, almost done:
I do Paintless Dent Repair on cars, taking out hail damage and door dings. I play alot of golf so I would love to go hang out with fej for awhile and maybe pickup some pointers.
Another IT guy here. IT Technical Services Manager for a regional telecom/IP video/cellular provider. Been in the industry 20 some years now, I even use too enjoy the work . Always wanted a vette, finally found the one I wanted a few years back, and have not stopped "improving" it since. Well the wife calls it someting different...
