C5 Bose blowout
I went to my local Best Buy store and talked to an installer and he told me I had to get a factory speaker. Well, I looked around on the net and found a replacement speaker from Zip Products. I called them up and the customer service person knew very little about the specs of the speaker......I was told by the BB guy that they come 8 ohm from the factory and most after market speakers are 4 ohm. Also, each speaker has an amplifier on it and the Zip replacement does not. The BB guy says you can not take the amp from the blown speaker and connect it to the replacement speaker. What the**!!**. I JUST WANT TO FIX THIS CRAPPY BOSE SYSTEM WITHOUT SPENDING AN ARM AND A LEG TO BUY A GM SPEAKER!!!!
Will someone give me the answer to my problem? and if there are some tips to make this Bose sound better....well, I'm all ears.......No highs...no lows....Must be a Bose!!
Thanks Everyone
If it was the bass speaker then you have to get an OEM speaker to replace it. They are available from the usual retailers, or you can probably find one on eBay for pretty cheap. You might first want to try putting a WTB thread in the C5 parts forum.
If it was the twiddler that you blew, or just because you'll be in the door anyway, then you can replace it with any standard 4 ohm 3.5" speaker. I'd recommend a two way replacement. Any $30 set will sound better than the paper POS Bose speakers, or you can blow a weeks pay on a top of the line speaker that will be wasted on the capabilities of the stock radio/amps.
