Default C5: '01 vert new system

I started out thinking maybe I’ll just replace the twiddlers. Then maybe the puny rears which I can’t tell are even there or not. Then I saw a post of the C5 system and that hideous inverted woofer. Then I came to appreciate the true meaning of the word Blose. So I am replacing the whole enchilada. I am accumulating all the pieces for a budget build. For the head unit a Pioneer DEH-P860MP; single amp Xtant 604x; doors CDT HD-62EF;pillars “image enhancement tweets”; single 12” sub in stealth box I bought off NVTHIS. I am working with vrumvrum for the mounting plates for head unit and speakers. I plan on having the amp right behind the waterfall. I also bought a crazy kit for the insulation (mainly for heat and light weight). I still need to buy wire and maybe some sound deadening material. I was going to run a 4 ga. power as shown in the faq along the right of the passenger. Ground to the pass. seat bolt. I was going to run the RCAs along the driver side tunnel. Crossovers behind seat maybe. The P3 kit in parts express looks pretty good to me. I plan on installing in phases. First is the insulation and wire runs. I am willing to put a few more pounds in strategic places if you guys have any input. I read about the insulation in the wheel wells, that looked interesting and I have read the raam site.

looks like youve got this planned out pretty well. A lot better than I did I agree cant beat knukonceptz for the wiring. Click on thier ebay store and alot of their stuff is at their ebay store for the same price but their shipping is a flat rate. I paid 5 bucks for shipping as opposed to 8 bucks shipping from their website. Dont know why, but its cheaper to buy from their ebay store. www.knukonceptz.com and just browse their website for what you may need and then click on their ebay link and look for it there.

Sounds like some great components that will make for an awesome system. Give us a review when you get done and have had a chance to listen to it.

thats' going to be a sweet sounding 'budget' system. I totally agree with knukonceptz. I had monster wire int there and comparing them side by side it's sickening.

Well I had set a soft $1K limit and am doing ok so far. I don't count the $200 for the insulation which I would have bought anyway. HU=$324, AMP=$210, CDT=$178, SUB=200. HU is only new piece.
I had visited the Knukonceptz site before and thought they had decent prices. They have a 4 channel kit but I am a little concerned on the 3' for the ground. Maybe I should just pick the individual parts out. So should I splurge on Krystal?

great amp...when's the install?[/QUOTE]

Probably take all summer. I want to get the insulation in asap. I was thinking of putting a layer on Ensolite over it. Make sense? I already have a partition and I have non-runflat tires so that already made it much more quiet. Has anybody experimented with RAAM just in certain places like behind the driver and pass. over the front part of the tire well?

That was great seeing pics of the items you are going to use. Post up some pics of them installed when it's done.

As for the 3' ground thing, I just finished (literally 20 minutes ago) putting in the 4 ga ground wire. I bolted it to the passenger seat (rear right) bolt. I ran it under the plastic, up over the wheel and to the right cubby hole in the trunk. I bought a 8' piece and I bet I had about 1.5 - 2' leftover.

Since you are planning to put the amp behind the waterfall, you may be able to go right up from the seat bolt to the amp. 3' may make it. But it also does sound a bit short.

I agree. The factory system in a Vert is useless with top down.
Installed pioneer Avic-n3 nav unit, brain under pass seat. Had to raise seat 1/4 inch to clear brain. 6 disc cd in pocket. xm built in to HU 10" JLsub in subthump box.JL 653 three ways up front and 5 1/4 coax from JL in rear. A JL slash 500/5 for power. 4guage wire down driver side and Stinger wiring down passenger. Upgraded the big three. I couldn't get a good voltage at idle before upgrade. Of course VrumVrum made speaker
my speaker mounts put tweeters in door pull area Now I've got to get rid of stock HU,Door speakers, rear speakers, 12 disc changer, PACoem-1 vette for sub and a cd converter to run my terk XM radio. But oh what fun
