Default C4 rear hatch sub box dimensions

My 89 is away getting painted and I forgot to measure the hatch area as to how wide I can go with a sub box that I will remove at will for space.

I think I can go 31 " W x 12.5 " H x 12.5 " D.

This will be for dual 10 " subs.

Or would I be better off getting one that's around 28 " W?

I figured the 31 " would fit more snug and less prone to moving around under hard acceleration.

31 will be fine. If I remember, it's 32 wide, without carpet. I can run a tape on mine tonite...

Another question, if it's 31 x 13.5 x 13.5 would that interfere with the top when it's in the hatch area? Would the top have enough clearance to not hit the box?

32" wide and 11.5 " tall and 10" deep and the top will still fit.

How much room do you still have? Are you giving me dimensions for as large as I can possibly go, or just the measurements of your own sub box enclosure?

These are the dimensions of my box, there isn't much more room to go deeper without interfering with the top maybe 2 - 3 inches. Height wise it interferes with the slide top just a little already but I'm running 12's so I can't go any smaller.
