I'm about to install a remanufactured Delco Bose system in my car (I know, I know, I should just scrap the Blose all together, but I got the head unit at a great price so what the heck). While I've got everything appart now, I figured I'd add an FM modulator so that I can listen to my 30Gig iPod video. The FM modulator is pretty much my only option since the head unit is a CD player and it doesn't have any aux. inputs.

Can anyone recommend a good quality FM modulator?
Thanks very much in advance.
Does the unit have an input for an external CD changer? Many of those units can be adapted to AUX input.
there are no quality fm modulators that ive heard. the couple that ive heard or tried were bad. they are usualy hit or miss. I would try a search on a plug n play type adapter of some kind where you can hard wire into your HU
There are no external inputs on the C4 Bose heads.
His only option is an RF interface.
I would burn the Bose, if it was up to me. I hate that ****. And thanks to there excellent marketing, they have made people think that bad sound is good. Garbage.

I agree, the Blose really isn't that good. And if money wasn't an issue right now, I'd rip the entire system out and start fresh... but I don't have that option.
Like I said, this remanufactured HU I got was priced right, and I'm sure it will sound FAR superior to the original AM/FM/cassette unit that it will replace.
But is it possible to get a hard-wired FM modulator that actually sounds bad? I thought because there's a hard-wire connection that the sound quality would be pretty decent. Am I wrong?

Hard wired will sound WAY better than a wireless modulator, no doubt about it. But basically think of it this way... you know how good CD sounds compared to FM radio? FM radio quality is the BEST POSSIBLE result you will get.
I'm not trying to knock what you're doing, you're pursuing your best available option. I think since what you're installing isn't a terribly high quality connection then you'd be wasting money for any sort of "audiophile" solution, especially since your source is compressed audio to begin with. I'd buy the least expensive WIRED-IN modulator that you can find.

As a temporary fix to the Ipod interface situation, and after going through a Nucleus interface disaster, I purchased a Monster FM modulator. So far it is working very good, I'm quite surprised.
Just deciding on an aftermarket head that looks, sounds and fits well.
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Audio...oductDetail.do this one made by audivox works pretty well I have used it many times with good results. Obviouslly you can probally find it cheaper else where. Also davidnavone.com makes highquality modulators, probally as good as they get
