Default Need help/advice on new setup

I have a 2003 Z06 with the worthless stocker BOSE system. I am looking to upgrade some of the audio components. I have read about 10 pages of this forum for research and here is what I have come up with so far. I am not an audophile and don't want to spend hordes of cash, nor do I require an extremely "accurate" system. I am looking for a simple, clean, better sounding, louder system. I would also have it professionally installed because it would be a gargantuan hack job if I did it myself.

1) Head Unit: Pioneer Premier DEH-P580MP or 5800MP. Anyone know the difference in the 580MP vs the 5800MP?

2) JL Audio 10W7 sub

3) SubThump 10W7 Box

4) Amp ?????

As for the sub and enclosure, I was looking to spend maybe $400 for both, and the subthump + 10W7 puts me well over. I know the 10W7 is an awesome sub, but would perhaps going with a subthump dual 10 enclosure and 2 less expensive subs also work? If so, does anyone have any recommendations? Would a single 12 also work?

At this time, I am not looking to upgrade any other audio components. Just the head unit and a subwoofer.

Thanks much in advance.

You could look into the 10w6 which many consider to be more musical, with less "bass" output. You could also look into a pair of 10w3's if you wanted to stay with JL, or the Image Dynamics ICQ or max. What type of music do you listen to? How much "bass" do you really want? Shake the car bass? Shake the car 3 cars away bass? Tight, punchy "rock" type bass?

Help us help you bro

You should consider the Stealthbox for your car. It would not take up much space and is a great driver/enclosure combo. The 10W7 is a great driver, but pairing it up with a generic enclosure might not be all that. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1522

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. I listen to a variety of music, including rock, some rap/hip hop and jazz. I like deeper, shake the car type bass, but not shake the car 3 cars away bass - if you know what I mean. My problem is deciding do I need just one 10", one 12" or two 10". I keep going back and forth and now I may have an opportunity to purchase a used 10" w/ enclosure and an amp.
