I recently purchased a sub/box which came with a JL 10WO. I have been told there are certian amps that work well with this sub. My first idea was to go to ebay and get a used PUNCH amp. Any advice will be appreciated.
hmm...never heard about certain amps working better with particular subs. take a look at www.edesignsaudio.com and they have a nine.2 amp for $215 that can give that sub more power then it needs (which is a good thing).
I think maybe what you are talking about is the different classes of amps. Maybe they were talking about a class D amp working better... i'm not sure though.
I agree with Scott....I haven't really heard about certain amps working better or worse with a given sub. Now maybe the person was referring to the type of amp (class D, etc) or maybe they were referring to an amp with too little power/adequate power/more than enough power. There could be audible differences in the sub output then.
There have been good reviews of the ED amps and subs. Take Scott's suggestion of the NINe.2 and you should be happy. I am either going to try ED amps or Phoenix Gold amps in my truck. I haven't used either, but both seem to get good reviews.
You could also go with JL Audio amps. Most people won't knock them unless you are getting into ultra class speakers and subs for a top notch system.
