Dumb Bose question.
I have a '99 hard top, my door speaker grills have the "Bose" logo on them, my head unit does not, it just says "Delco Electronics". If I replace the head unit, do I have to use the signal converter and go through all that crap, or is it just a straight up replacement?

Well, I'm not sure what unit I want to buy, if you have a recommendation, I'm all ears. I guess I'm confused because my '04 Cadillac head unit says "Bose" on it, so if the speaker grills in a 'Vette say Bose, then it's considered a Bose system, not just a stereo with Bose speakers?

the bose in the C5s are crap anyway. Hooking up an ipod and adding a sub actually makes the bose sound somewhat good. I would have been happy with just this setup, but i screwed up my stock HU changing out the lights to LED lights. Many go this route before they change out major components. Its easy and for most, its just what they were looking for. check out this thread to see what other guys are running just to see how basic and especially see how far you can go with the c5s and other vettes. Take a look and let us know what direction and what you are looking for and we will give you as much info as we can or at least point you in the right direction. Our HU may not say Bose on them directly, but i think its still a Bose component. not 100% sure though
