95% done now........
Well I finally finished off most of my stereo install after a few weeks of tinkering! I figured I would post some pics to show how it turned out! I went with more of a stealth install which has minimal modifications to the car so it can be returned back to stock easily enough and retain as much functionality (i.e. storage space) and durability as I could!! Side storage compartments are still there and accessible under the new covers, the only holes physically drilled into the car were for the power wires in the firewall. I couldn’t use much of the stock carpet, etc as it was all thrown off and didn’t fit well due to the LPE mini tub kit, so as you will see I redid it all incorporating a full false floor with amp rack and custom sealed sub enclosure with .63 cu ft per sub!! (still debating if I did the right thing by going with the black carpet to match the interior of the car vs. using grey trunk liner to match what was in there). I also had to re-mold the dash to allow for a double din mount, as you will see on the bottom I didn’t like not having the cigarette lighter there so mounted a 12v accessory port and my laser defuser controls there! In the doors I made some plates out of MDF for the component speakers and made the same dimensions as the Bose and utilized the factory holes.
For gear I used…..
-Kenwood DDX-6019 Head Unit (Plays DVD’s as well)
-Kenwood KNA-G510 Navigation unit (Made by Garmin)
-Kenwood SIR-KEN1 Sirius Tuner
-EFX HD7004 4 Ch Amp
-EFX HDX67 6 ½ components in the doors (Powerd by Amps front ch)
-EFX HDC5250 5 ¼ Coax in the rears for fill (Powered by deck)
-EFX DVC 10” Subs X2 (Powered by Amps rear ch)
-EFX wire, rca's and connectors
-Obserview rear view camera
-Compustar security system with a perimeter sensor (Radar field for when top is down)
Still working on completing the following…….
-Obserview front camera (Help protect my ACI spoiler when pulling into parking spots lol)
-Finish install on laser defuser
My plan with these is I have purchased a second front plate filler and am going fiberglass/bondo one to resemble the Halltech tunnel port http://www.corvettec5.com/store/?pag...ebeff462bb5aa3 and mount the laser defuser head and front camera in it!

Enjoy,

How much work was it to re-mold the dash? Did you have someone re-cover it after you were done with it? What all is involved with doing something like that?
Jeff.
I appreciate the compliments! On the dash re-mold there is a how to in the C5 FAQ above. I sort of combined some methods and ended up using 5 min plastic epoxy for the speed aspect of it vs. the sludge method, I didn’t use any bondo (Tends to separate sometimes) and built it up enough to mold it with my dremmel and a ton of sanding by hand to make it smooth and flow well. All in all it’s not a hard process just VERY time consuming. I found with me being picky the toughest part was getting the SEM texture coating just right, I either had too much and had to re-sand it all, or not enough! Then I got past that and the clear was too shinny! lol so I ended up re-doing again and using a low luster clear that I liked better!
Others have used the same SEM coatings however if you want me to I can get the model numbers.
