Help with an amp?
I am having a problem with one of my amps.
To make it work, I have to push the left stereo rca input semi hard. Is there a simple fix to this? It has to be a bad connection, b/c when I push it, everything works. Any help would be greatly appreciated!J.
What you have is a cold solder joint. This has happen to me before once on a amp and dozens of times on the equipment I worked on in the USAF. It should be an easy fix but that depends on the design of the amp. Take the cover off the amp. You should be able to see the connections of the RCA inputs to the circuit board. When you wiggle the bad RCA chances are you see one of those connections loose. It will appear as a crack in the solder joint. Take a solder iron and heat up that crack. Most of the time you don't even need to add solder but adding solder can help strengthen the joint. You will also want to look at your RCA cable run and find out why they put stress on the amp's RCA inputs. Good luck
