Default Question concerning wiring

I just placed the following order per a forum member suggestion :

1-KOL-AK44 Complete 4 Gauge 4 Channel Amplifier Installation Kit -
2-BC-1448 BC-1448 Kompression Distribution Block -
3ft-KOL8BL Kolossus Kable 8 Gauge Blue Power Wire -
3-ft KOL8S Kolossus Kable 8 Gauge Silver Power Wire -
2-ST88BK Gold Plated 8 Gauge Spade Terminal - Black -
2-ST88R Gold Plated 8 Gauge Spade Terminal - Red -

Question I have is : the amp is jl 300/2 and sub jl 500/1 1-12w6v2)
the battery to distribution blocks is 4 ga should I run 8 ga from
the distribution block to the amps or 4 ga all around. If so why
was it recommened to purchase the 8ga wiring ? Thanks any advice
is appreciated.

8 gauge to the amps from your fused distribution block that you ran the 4 gauge to from the battery. I usually try and keep my 8 gauge lengths somewhat short (less than 3 feet) but it all depends on where you are mounting everything.

FeJ, just confirming that it ok to run 8 gauge instead of 4. I'll keep the lengths no more than 3 feet.
If needed I can order the 4 gauge. What do you think ?? Go with the 8 or 4.

Either way. I recommended the 8-guage from the blocks to the amps. I estimated no more than 1.5 feet of each (power and ground) wire for each amp.
By no means am I 100% correct in the list I gave you. I was basing the list the best I could on the information I had. Good luck on the install

Fej

And I've pushed considerably more power than your set-up through mine.
I kept my 8 gauge + leads less than 3' and my ground (seat bolt) ~6' using 4 gauge for my ground.

I also have a 5 farad cap from Alumapro which made a big difference in the bass dept. It sounded tighter and more precise on the new 10" JL W3V3.
