Need iTunes help
I mated both PC's via a USB and dragged all my old files/folders from the old PC to one BIG folder titled OLD PC on the new PC. I then copied all the iTunes folders (individual cd's) back to my empty iTunes folder. They are there but NOT associated with the iTunes application. When I click on the iTunes desktop short cut it opens empty. However if I go directly into the iTunes folder all the folders are there.
How do I get the music folders associated with the application?
Thanks
Tom
Install the same version of iTunes on the new computer has you had on the old computer. Restart in Safe mode so that none of the iTunes background helper apps are running. Then take the iTunes folder in "C:\Program Files" from the old computer and copy it over the one on the new computer.
Restart and iTunes should now have that music associated.
1. Launch iTunes (on your new PC).
2. Click File, then click 'Add Folder to Library...'
3. In the 'Browse For Folder' popup window, navigate to the folder containing your songs and click OK; it will take a few minutes depending on how large your music collection is but you should be good to go from there!!
I do this all the time...
Note: you can also add individual songs to the iTunes Library by clicking 'Add File to Library...'
