Well I recieved a replacement head unit for my 1986 Delco/Bose. Installed it and I've got no sound. The original did not work at all. This one appeares to be working as I can tune different stations and I see the stereo light coming on. It switches to AM and FM okay.
Can all four amps in the speakers be bad? Is there any way to test these? I know they can be rebuilt at about $75 each but with that cost I might as well replace the whole system. Not even static coming from them. Is there a fuse somewhere for the power to the amps?
Those that have replaced the system, did you use existing wireing or did you rewire the car?
Well I did some troubleshooting. Pulled one of the rear speakers and tested it and it works fine. Used my voltmeter and checked the voltage coming to the amp, 3 volts. Is this supposed to be 12v?? Haven't a clue where the relay is either.
My 90 had a am/fm tuner modulator mounted behind the glove box. My radio would make wierd sounds and I thought it was my speakers, but after testing them they were ok. Sometimes it would buzz pop or make no sound. I have a local vette part sell me that used tuner box for about 75 bucks. Replaced it and it solved the problem, might think about that!

Should be 12V. The relay in my 88 is up under the passenger side access panel. It is a #itch to reach. You are almost standing on your head. Some folks recommend pulling the wiring socket off the bottom of the relay, then installing a new relay, then taping it to a wiring harness in the vicinity, so as not to rattle around. I'm strange however, I like to put things where they are supposed to be, but thats just me. The other will work fine. Good Luck...
