Aftermarket Stereo
Is there anything manufactured that doesn’t stick out the front and look aftermarket??
I went to Crutchfield.com and everything they described as fitting needed an extension and would stick out the front.
Suggestions?
Thanks
Tim

I noticed two types available on eBay, one is amped and one is not. I assume since the Bose speakers have their own amps (if I understand correctly) then I should not get the unit with already amplified output.
Yes/no?
Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with this Pioneer unit?
Thanx in advance,
Jim
I hate that Pioneer. It's old school and sounds like crap.
Don't bother with messing with interfacing to the blose speakers. It's just not going to do you anything worth listening to.

1. What is meant by 1 din, 1,5 din, and 2 din?
2. One or more of my Bose speakers are popping, and as I live in South Africa stripping them out and sending them to Dr, Dons for repair would be a mission. Can I simply replace the Bose speakers with the usual 6x9 speakers at the rear and 5” or 6” in the front without replacing the head unit?

The link takes you to the Adobe PDF doc that has all you or a local shop needs to know to test and fix the speaker amps.

1.5 din is half again as high, about 3" high. 1984-1989 Vettes are 1.5 Din.
and a double din is about 4" high, and are the same as what is found in a 1990-1996 Corvette dash. 178mm x 106mm. Whatever that works out to be!
You will have to replace the head to replace the speakers. I know there are adaptors available to use the bose speakers with a newer head, but not the other way around. I imagine getting adaptors would be hard enough, too...
You can remove the bose speakers, but please, don't use 6x9s, I hate their sound... 8" subs will fit in the rear with no real problems.
This question should be in the audio section, too.

Hey now! Be nice, I like my interfaced setup, it sounds good! lol
