Default Radar/Laser Detector/Disruptor

Ok I have a question. I just got my Lingenfelter'd Z06 home, after being at Lingenfelter for a 'really really really long time.' The only thing that I haven't done to this car is put a radar/laser detector/disruptor on it.

Since they are illegal in Arizona, I need to know what I can do, where I can put it and stuff like that. I have heard of them being in the rear view mirror but I haven't ever seen one like that.

If anyone has any opinions PLEASE let me know. I don't have that much of a lead foot in my Corvette, but I do like to have a good time every now and then.

If anyone has any pictures of installed ones, or idea please send them my way. Thanks.

I posted on the General section but no replies...

Sounds like you are looking for something that is stealth and integrated into the car. These type of installs cost $$$$$$$, but with the mods that you have done that should not be a issue.

I will be looking into getting the V1 etched into my mirror with laser jammers in the my 07 Z when it arrives later this year. The jammer will light up on of your V1 arrows on the display when jamming. I had this type of intall on my 04 E55 AMG.

Very cool and stealth since I drive into VA often.

Here are some pics of what I think you are looking for

Awesome, thank you very much I love the way that looks. I am looking it up right now.

QUestion though. How do the Jammers work. Do they tell the cop I'm doig a slower speed or just don't tell the cop anything?

LMAO that sounds like I am planning on breaking the law or something LOL. Totally not, but just wondering. I just wanna be protected as much as I can get. Knowing people in the force doesn't work all the time.

The folks that did the intall are in NY. The name of the comany is AI Design and the owner's name is Matt. Looked at all type of the shops across the US and they are one of the "Best" if not the "Best" in custom work.

The have already done a few Z's with the etched V1 install. The jammer tells the cop nothing, just starts blinking an arrow to let you know that the jammer is jamming something that is being shot at you.

Awesome thank you very much. I am in Arizona so I'm not sure about sending my car to NY but I will deffinitely get into contact with them. I have been without my car for a really long time now, and I don't plan on parting with it for another long while. I wanna enjoy it.

But thank you very much for the info. I really like the way it is done. Just one more question though:

If the cop sees you and puts his radar gun on you and gets nothing. Can't he still pull you over, for suspesion of disrupting his signal. Cause I'm assuming that Illegal as well.

I wouldn't recommend jamming Radar - you will only raise your profile to the officer, not reduce it.

Get a good radar detector like an Escort 8500 or Valentine 1. I personally prefer the V1 because I like the arrows.

Laser is different, however, since it is line of sight.
Try the Escort Shifter ZR3

http://www.myradardetector.com/zr3.htm
and
http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=8502

How do I defend myself against LIDAR?
Introducing the new Laser Shifter ZR3 - the ultimate laser (LIDAR) defense system from Escort. The new Laser Shifter ZR3 is equipped with a total of three (2 front, 1 rear) laser "Shifters." These highly sensitive transceivers detect the presence of LIDAR, and respond with a pulsed laser signal in order to "Shift" or confuse the targeting LIDAR gun.

Do I need front and rear LIDAR protection?
YES! Law enforcement officers can target your vehicle from the front or the rear. Some speed traps are designed with the officer positioned on an entrance ramp, providing no visual indication of their presence. The rear sensor of the Laser Shifter ZR3 protects you from this kind of ambush.

Is Laser "Shifting" safe?
YES! The Food and Drug Administration regulates the use of Laser. The Laser Shifter ZR3 is safe, and accurate against targeting laser guns. However, this type of product may be limited or prohibited in some jurisdictions. Check your local laws before using.

What control do I have over the Laser Shifter ZR3?
The Laser Shifter ZR3 is packed with useful features including front and rear indicators, volume control, mute, and manual "receive only" mode (patent pending). Since some of the LIDAR guns are equipped with "jamming codes," our exclusive "receive only" mode allows you to disarm the shifters during an alert - minimizing attention from the targeting officer.

Can I use the Laser Shifter ZR3 with my current radar/laser detector?
Yes. In fact, Escorts's exclusive design allows you to "link" the new Laser Shifter ZR3 to the award-winning Passport 8500 - providing the ultimate protection against all forms of radar and laser encounters. This combination of detection and "Laser Shifting" is the best protection available.

The Laser Shifter ZR3 may also be used to add laser shifting capability to the Cordless Solo S2, the Passport 7500S, or the custom-installed Passport SR7.

Do not jam radar. If you get caught you will go to jail

I'm so jealous of your car :o , the power must be awesome.
The K40 is stealth but $. The V1 is an awesome detector. As far as I know laser jammers are legal in most states

Many moons ago I worked in a shop in Pompano Beach, FL that offered a long list of modifications of dubious nature. We referred to them as "007 Devices".
The most popular offering was hidden "safes" we would place into cars so the owners could hide their gun, cash, girlfriends numbers, etc.
For the serious driving enthusiasts, we offered "zap lights", tag changers, smoke screens and radar jammers.
The radar jammer was way illegal and was only installed into vehicles of long term customers. Basically, it consisted of a K-40 undectable, a small antenna, a **** and a digital display. This was a custom kit that was not available "off the shelf".
The jammer was tied into the front and rear sensors of the K-40. When radar was detected the jammer would "cloak" the vehicle but not make it invisible, the radar gun still got a reading. The beauty of the system was the jammer control which allowed the driver to dial in the speed that the gun would clock his vehicle. If the vehicle was traveling @ 50MPH and the jammer was set to 35MPH, that is what the gun reads.
The system did have it's limitations however. It takes a lot of energy to overcome the power of the radar gun and it's not realistic to mount a huge radar dish onto someone's car. The antenna was very small and with the energy passing through it, destruction is a real possibility. The jammer was set up to broadcast for only 5 sec at a time which was the limit for the hardware. If you were to drive through a radar trap, you had this 5 sec window to get your speed corrected.
We charged $5K for this system. The man who supplied us with the antenna and the other needed hardware was eventually arrested. The shop was raided by the DEA and shut down two years after I left.

Thank you so much for all the info guys. I will surely be able to pick something from one of these choices. I'm not really worried about $, but it's worth every penny. Keep watch because I will officially have the car this week. Delivery was scheduled for Tuesday, but I haven't gotten it yet. I've been told it will be here this weekend. I am going to pose a lot of pics. So keep watch on the C6 Z06 forum. Post will be titled LINGENFELTER/CARAVAGGIO CORVETTE PICS!

Thanks again guys. You've been way more than helpful.
