I have an Alpine 9857 head unit. I also have a flush mount from humount.com. The problem I have is that the head unit is so deep that it is going clear to the back of the mounting area. I've bent the stock aluminum mounting point down to get more room, but I'm still hitting the back of the area. I changed my straight RCA mounts to 90 degree adapters. This gave me more room, but I'm still short about .5 in. What is directly behind the radio? Is this part of the ventilation system? Does anyone have any good ideas on how I might be able to get a little more room?
Take a look at the " LED HU mount & other helpful tidbit " thread. This will point out what had to be done to get the hu mount and 9857 to fit properly.
I also installed the same radio. Cut the round thing, and the radio is fine.
YOu are forgetting to put the spacer in the radio. YOu are forgetting to put a part. I also noticed the same problem, but remembered to put the part in that I forgot.
midas1 and pentavolvo....thanks a lot. I got the head unit installed. It is now flush mounted and looks great! I went with the brushed aluminum mount with blue LED lighting. I don't have the dash back together because I am painting the pieces, but once I do I will post pics.
Drav1212....there's no spacer with this mounting kit. It mounts the head unit flush with the dash. This pushes the head unit back further into the dash and that was causing my problem. Thanks for your reply.
jmartora.....thanks for your reply also. I used right angle RCAs and it helped, but not quite enough.
put some black electrical tape or osmehting on the top of the led bar, on midas1 car we didnt and u can see bleed through come through the top we have yet to fix it, u will see whati mean
