Default Bazooka tube for C5

I've got an amplified Bazooka tube I held onto from another vehicle. I'd like to install it in my C5, but I have a couple of requirements.

1) It's fugly, but I won't see it with the cargo cover installed so that's not a big problem. BUT, I need to be able to take it out easily.

2) I don't want a manual switch. In other words, I am assuming I need to tap into the 'remote' line from the factory harness. Has anyone done this?

Am I just wasting my time? Can it be done? Where would I tap into?

Eric,

I did this on mine. I tapped into the power antenna but you have a coupe so that will not work.

I did run a power cable from the battery for power. I think there's probably a connection for the power antenna in the footwell.

Howdy,

I had a amplified bazooka in my 96. It has an auto turn on feature. Are you sure you don't have this? It would sense when there was a signal on the line and turn on automatically. Made installation much easier.

I have decided not to put the bazooka in my 2001. In my 96 I was feeding off the back speakers which worked well. I had read in the C5 Bose system the back speakers didn't get a full range signal and therefor wouldn't work too well with the Bazooka. So the bazooka went in my second car.

Hope this helps

It may have an auto on/off feature, not sure.

Toe - What did you use to secure the tube in the back? In my old car, it was in the trunk and I screwed into the bottom, not sure I want to do that with the C5.

If it doesn't have the auto-on feature, connect the remote lead to the auxiliary yellow switched wire down at the BCM. This isn't linked directly to the radio, but it will at least switch on/off with the ignition.

Eric,

I just sat it in the center compartment. It did not move.
