the w7 series are killer subs. Nelson V. had a pair in his C5 vert. nice.

very nice.

You will need more power, tho. I donno about PG amps, tho. They are nice enough, but for the w7, I would consider a 500/1 mono JL Audio amp.

should I stick with 1 sub or sacrifice more for 2..Not sure how the spl quality is on these subs--what do you think Bogus, I'm not looking for an EXTREMELY loud car like you hear driving down the road late at night--but I do want some nice bass, go with this 1 sub and the jl 500.1---Isn't there a good 3 channel amp I can get to run the fronts and a jl 8w7--so I don't have to use 2 amps in my car.

I was running a pair of 8W7's in the Roadster, each in its own sealed enclosure (.875cu ft each, if I recall correctly). Just to see what these W7's were about, I experimented disconnecting one of the subs. My impressions were that a single 8W7 would be sufficient for all but top-down highway driving, or just plain bragging rights. Of course, two will give you Perma-Grin. And obviously, SQ wouldn't be affected by quantity of drivers unless you were clipping for lack of air volume displacement.

Another note, each 8W7 was driven by only a 300W amplifier channel.

Hope this helps.

Chillcat, aren't you in the SoCAL area? Perhaps, if you're ever in North San Diego County, I can arrange an in-car demo of the 8W7's.

I wish I was in your area to check it out, but I'm located in florida---I also had a mcintosh 4000 amp just recently but it took up too much space in my car with the 10's--I couldn't store my ttop nor anything else back in there--was a shame because it sure Sounded tight....

someone just told me a jl 500.1 is abit too much for the sub according to jl specs/warranty. they said the 250.1 is perfect for the 8w7 and I've heard the digital design 1008 is way better than the 8w7...I thought I had my picks narrowed out, but I'm up for opinions now, someones offering me a dd1008 for $150 shipped and its almost new Nib is what he mentioned at caraudio.com--

Going by the numbers JLA provides, I agree, the 250/1 will do nicely.
