Stock rear speaker replacement
I would like to maybe replace the rear twiddlers in the stock system to 2 or three ways and maybe wire a couple separate tweeters. Do I need to remove the entire plastic trim piece to access the rear twiddlers, or does the screen pop out? Thank you.

Re: Stock rear speaker replacement (6SPEEDY)
The rear speakers only get fed frequencies of 1khz and above, so no bass will get to them. They also don't point at the occupants. You need to pick a speaker with good mid and high frequency response. Get one with a swivel tweeter if you can point to the front.
The stock speaker is an OK mid-range speaker. You can just add some cheap surface mount tweeters with built in capacitor crossover in parallel with them. Point the tweeters at the occupants heads.
The internal amp is less than 20 wrms/ch.

Re: Stock rear speaker replacement (99HT)
Thnks for the info, 99HT, but do you happen to know how the stock units come off? Do I remove the trim piece or does the grill come out?

Hi Speedy,
In my Vert, the entire trim panel pops (uses "v" shaped clips pressed into a retangular hole in the fiberglass inner structure) off.
As I recall it has two clips only.....should be the proverbial piece of cake to remove the panel.

Re: Stock rear speaker replacement (Kenny94945)
The two difficult things are the attachment point for the shoulder belt and the coupe gas strut. A BIG Torx driver is needed for the belt. Haven't figured out how to remove the gas strut from the bottom attachment point yet.

There should be a clip that sort of wraps around the bottom piviot point. Use a small thin blade screw driver to pull the clip off of the bottom of the shock. Good luck.
