I think this has been asked before, but can 3-way components systems fit in the C6 doors? I looking at XR653-CS http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...hp?comp_id=121
Also i was wondering if you would suggest focals or a different brand of speakers that sell for the same price as the JLs XR line and would sound better.

You can do a 3 way in the doors by mounting the 6.5 & tweet in the sub opening and put the midrange in the door. I was looking at doing that with the Focal 165V3E's but wound up with a 2 way Kevlar instead (3 way Kevlar uses a 6" midrange so that wasn't gonna happen) because I like the sound of the Kevlar drivers. Looks like that JL is a 4" mid so you'd have to rig something up for mounting it in the 3.5" opening in the door panel. The Focal 165V3E uses a 3.5" mid, they go for about $500 for the set gray market, which probably means $750 retail. I don't have any experience with JL speakers other than subs so I can't comment on the difference.

If I had a C6 I would be looking to piece together a 3 way system with a minimum 7" midbass in the factory location with a 3-3.5" midrange in the stock location and then I would play around with the tweet and its location. The Focal 165v3 that was mentioned are great drivers and would work well. You could also look in to places like madisound.com or zalytron.com for raw drivers .. pick up a couple 3 way crossovers (or build your own) and you are gtg. Companies like seas, scan speak, morel, focal/jm lab can all be had for pretty great prices per driver if you know what you are looking for. I put together my system from Zalytron with a 7" Focal polykevlar midbass and a tn51 tweet and a Focal Polyglass 3 way crossover ($15) for under $450 from them and added a DLS 3" midrange via ebay for 1/3rd of retail and had my system

As a side note the other way I would also consider doing a 9" morel or 8" seas midbass in the factory location and picking up a home audio tweet in the 2-3" variety and putting it in the "mid" location now. That 8 or 9 would play from 60ish hz up through 2k pretty easily and let your tweet pick up the rest. Damnit I wish I had c6 doors in my 01 z!
