Default Need Recomendations For Speakers/Amps!!!!

What kind of speakers and amps would you recomend? It's actually for my 67 Camaro, but my vette is next. So i'll use this info for that also. But this is what i'm thinking, either some Infinty or Boston Acoustic speakers. And some JL Audio or Alpine amps, pushing a JL sub. Like a 10" W7 would be plenty from what I hear. I don't know too much about stereos. Any feedback would help me big time! Thanks!

I was thinking of somewhere around $1,2-$1,300 for the speakers, amps, & a sub. Does that sound about right?

it can sound right :-)

I'd strongly look into the ed line for a high quality system with a nice price.
I always suggest not getting rear speakers and opting for some nicer front speakers. this will improve soundstage and just sound better in my honest opinion...but it may not be for you.

I'd focus most of your budget on speakers, i'm not sure what fits in that car...or what you're willing to do to fit the right speakers in that car but i've heard Dynaudio MW150, MW160 & MD100 a few weeks back and i was blown away. of course you'll need to get a 3 way x-over for these if that is the way you want to go. Then i'd look into a nine.2 amp from elemental designs for those speakers. it'll give them a healthy 100 wrms+ to each 'set' of speakers. If the dyn audio is not your taste or budget (i think these would bump you over your budget) then i'd look into cdt audio (which is what part of my component system is right now), elemental designs (i am using the eu-700 as a midbass for my 3 way set up in my car), or focal (never had first hand experience with these but they have a rep that can't be beat.

then from there you'd need a sub and sub amp. look into either the w7 like you liked or maybe an image dynamics or an elemental designs sub as well. when you choose one of those then we'd need to pick out an amp for that particular speaker. the ed nine.1 would be nice amp for that w7.

does this get you on the right track? i could be of more help if i knew the limitations you had on speakers, but this may get you on your way.

So my car has no stereo in it at all! It has an antenna, but that's it. Not a speaker or a wire in the whole car. I've been restoring this car for the last 6 years. This is one of the last steps of completion.

So i was planning on outting some 3" speakers in the kick panles, 2 6x9's in the rear deck lid, 2 amps(1 to push the sub & 1 for the speakers), and 1 10" sub. The car will be insulated from front to rear.

Do you have a link to a website for the Brands you mentioned? Thanks for your help, I need all i can get!!!!

the 3" in the kick panels are going to struggle to keep up with 6x9's

are you willing to design 'kick pods'?
http://www.selectproducts.com/instal...rsonaudio4.htm

it's what is in the first picture. that will get you a proper set of components up front. you can get away witha simple 2 way component set and it'll sound gobs better.

some links:
www.edesignaudio.com (there is a link to a forum discount lurking around the forums...greatly reduced prices too)
www.cdtaudio.com

the rest you'll have to search for :-)

edit: found the forum discount link:
http://www.edesignaudio.com/groupbuy.php

I don't have experience with all of their gear but from the reputation they have you can get a great system if you get all ED gear (they also sell sound deadener taht is really easy to work with... i have used it with great results).

Scott has been giving your good advice. I would appreciate seeing pics of your install once you get done with it. I just picked up a 65 Chevelle and will begin the stereo install next spring. I don't want to hack it all to pieces but want to have a good sounding system that "looks" like it could have been original.

I am planning to go with ED all the way through. I have ED components (the 6500s) and ED subs (11Kv.2) in my truck. I saw an ED amp this weekend at our Chicago vette gathering and they look very well made.

For the money, especially with forum discount pricing, you may be hard pressed to find a better value of sound for the money than using ED. I am planning to use their sound deadner in my car. I may brush on the liquid and then lay down the mat. I know I am at least doing the mat.

I have some advice for ya. Axe the 6x9" and 3" idea and get a qualitly set of componets in the kick panels (5.25"or 6.5") Then put a that JL 10W7 in a sealed box firing up through the rear deck. You go with two cheaper 10" subs also, like the ones Vince has for sale

Years ago I had a 71 camaro. I ran 4 6x9's in the back deck(Pioneer TS-V6960's I think) Powered by a 200 wt Alpine(I think), with no sub. It was a pretty nice sounding system on a budget, if you dont mind your music coming from behind you.

Well I ended up going a tad over my budget..... . When I say tad, I really mean it doubled! But I know when it comes to speakers you get what you pay for. So I spaired no expense, just like the rest of the car. So here's what I ended up with:

Deck: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X990
Front Speakers: Kicker 05KS62 6.5" Components
Rear Speakers: Kicker 055KS69 6x9's
Sub: 12" Kicker Solo-Baric L7
Amps: Kicker ZX350.4
Kicker ZX750.1
Capacitor: Farad 1.5 Cap

Dnyomat for the trunk and back seat, front speakers mounted in the front doors, 6x9's in the rear deck lid. And the trunk will be the best part. To start, a custom Bandpass box for the L7 mounted so you can see the fatty magnet through a plexi window. The whole trunk will be lined with custom panels wrapped in Black Vinyl to match the interior. The chamber of the sub box will be red to match the outside of the car, naturally. The amps will be sunk in the floor, all wires hidden. Kinda of like what you'd see in an episode of Overhaulin. Was it cheap, hell no!!! But it's what I want, and you only live once. It should and will be one kick @ss set up. The shop i'm using does some sweet work. They just finished a 70 Chevelle SS with a similar set up, but 2 JL 13.5 subs that will bring the house down. I'll have the car back by Friday, i'm dropping it off on Tuesday morning. And be like a kid on x-mas eve until it's done. Pics of the finished product will come. But for now, this is what it's all going in.......

This is an old pic. Since then i've added full Hotchkis Suspension, Speedtech Upper/Lower Tubular A Arms, 17" Intro Wheels wrapped in Yokohama AVS Sport tires, a bunch of other crap that cost me a $hit load. But this will be one bad mother after i'm done. After this stereo, a stoker motor, T5-6, and new rear end will complete this 6 year resto.
